South Lanarkshire College works with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to deliver a range of programmes through Employability Fund.
With a strong focus on work experience, the Employability Fund lets us respond to the different needs of each individual, while adapting to employers demands locally.
Employability Fund activity’s aim is to help unemployed people build skills and confidence employers are looking for.
All courses are focused on helping you get into employment with SQA accredited qualifications delivered by South Lanarkshire College lecturers.
The Training & Employment team has experienced dedicated staff that will provide employability sessions, one to one support and a work placement to help you gain the experience and references you need.
This programme will support you in preparing for, and sustaining, employment in a suitable vocational area. You’ll complete an SQA Enterprise and Employability Award. You’ll also gain relevant practical skills during a work placement where appropriate. This course will help you recognise your skills and qualities, build confidence in job seeking, gain the skills employers are looking for and provide knowledge of local opportunities.
This programme will provide a foundation upon which you can build your core skills, personal development and employability skills as well as vocational competence. You’ll achieve an SQA Personal Development Award and complete a programme to increase confidence, soft skills and motivation and you’ll develop practical skills during a work placement. The course will also offer health and wellbeing sessions and one-to-one support and guidance.
Eligibility for this programme will be the same as Employability Fund, however, applicants must be 25+ years of age and reside in South Lanarkshire. Any applicants in receipt of benefit will have to confirm eligibility via Job Centre Advisor. The programme will consist of 6 weeks in college (15 hours per week), then a work placement that could be in a variety of settings (nursery, afterschool provision or breakfast provision). Participants will achieve SQA units in Playwork and Childcare and an employability programme.
